Valle De Los Ingenios

En el Siglo XIX José Mariano Borrell funda los ingenios Guaimaro y Palmarito, dos de los entonces colosos de la producción azucarera. En 1827 el primero de ellos logró la más alta zafra del mundo en esa época, Huellas del período de esplendor del Valle de los Ingenios aparecen en las pailas, ruedas y mansiones como la del ingenio Guaimaro. Sus frescos italianos, amplia escalinata a la entrada y arcos de medio punto patentizan el poderío económico de esta familia trinitaria. Borrell ostentaba el titulo de Marqués de Guaimaro, nombre de su hacienda e Ingenio, cuya Casa de Vivienda se conserva con sus arcos y pinturas murales, situada en la finca de su nombre en el Valle de San Luis
